Adequate ski & travel insurance is one of the most important things to take with you when embarking on a ski holiday, or summer holiday in France

Medical cover in France is not the same as in the UK. You have to pay up front for any treatment, and when you consider that the cost of treatment for a broken leg can be in the region of £10,000, then the costs can easily add up.

Mountain rescue is also a costly (but essential) business. A helicopter off the mountain can easily cost you upwards of £2000, and if you are not properly insured, this comes out of your own pocket with no opportunity to claim it back
